At the beginning of March, we celebrated British Science Week and the important role curiosity plays in scientific thinking.
So today, why not support your little one’s natural curiosity and investigate one of the five senses?
This lovely idea encourages your little one to start thinking about whether something is hard or soft through touch. All you need to do is:-
- Use an empty wet-wipe box or similar, and a collection of various soft and hard items such as cotton-wool balls, feathers, small pieces of fabric, building blocks, keys, toy cars or other small toys.
- Place the objects in the box and then encourage your little one to put their hand inside.
- Ask them to find you a hard or soft object.
To challenge them further, see if they can also tell you what the object is called.
